Listowel 2008 |

When arriving from Tralee, John B Keane welcomes you from the little square. His pub in Lower William Street is a cosy unspoilt meeting place run by his son Billy. Sunday nights are always lively when traditional music is played. |

In The Square, St John’s church is now a cultural centre for theatrical performances, music concerts and art exhibitions. A monthly calendar of events is widely advertised. |

Listowel has a wide variety of places to eat out. To mention just a few now, Lawlors on The Square (a modern bar with food); The Listowel Arms, the hotel in the corner of The Square; The Horseshoe Bar serves great bar food and has a restaurant upstairs; Casa Mia is an Italian restaurant at the top of Upper William Street. There are a number of Chinese restaurants and takeaways and a reputable Indian restaurant on The Square. |
For a town of some 3000 population, Listowel has plenty of pubs. However, the numbers are down to 25+ from the height of 52 only five years ago. As with most towns, Saturday night is the main ‘going out’ night, but do not be fooled... Sunday night is also the new Saturday! |
