Moyvane
The village of Moyvane is just 3½ miles from the cottage. This is a thriving community with all the facilities you might need: two convenience stores, a butcher, Post Office, hardware store and builder’s merchants, the dairy co-op, several pubs and the late night take away. Local events can be found on the website or advertised locally.
Listowel
The market town of Listowel is 7 miles away. As well as the supermarkets and pubs, there is a great selection of independent shops offering books, fashion & shoes, art, restaurants & cafes. St John’s Theatre - the converted church in the Square - has a full programme of events each month.
John B Keane and are just two writers who were born in Listowel. Writers Week is THE event in the literary calendar to attend. A book with all the award winning works of 2007 can be found in the cottage bookshelf.
As the heart of the North Kerry countryside, Listowel also hosts the annual Food Festival each November.
Other local towns of note are Athea (motorcycle road races), Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West, Ballybunion, Tarbert, Tralee.
