Horse racing/riding
Everyone knows someone who breeds, owns or trains horses in Ireland. Listowel has two infamous race meetings each year: 2009 dates are 31 May -1 June and 13-19 September. Other racecourses with an hour�s drive are Limerick and Cork (Mallow). This link will take you to the fixture lists.

Fishing/angling

There is a small but peaceful lake just four miles from the cottage that is available all year round. A day is approx �25.

The River Shannon, tributary rivers and local lakes offer all types of fishing. Please check the regional regulations before planning your fishing holiday.
